Plea against Lt Gen Dalbir Singh in fake encounter case

A petition listing Vice-chief of Army Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag as one of the key respondents in an alleged fake encounter case has been filed in the Manipur high court. This comes at a time when Suhag's possible appointment as the next Army chief is facing opposition from the BJP.
Three suspected militants from Manipur were killed after being apprehended allegedly by personnel of the Army's Rangapahar-based 3rd Corps' intelligence and surveillance unit in March 2010. Lt Gen Suhag was the GOC of 3rd Corps then.
