The Justice Mukul Mudgal-led committee probing corruption charges against team owners of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals has found Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of match-fixing and betting during Indian Premier League 2013, reports said on Monday. The committee, which was was formed by the Supreme Court to inquire into spot-fixing and illegal betting in the Indian Premier League last year, submitted its report the Supreme Court.
The report has said that allegations of betting and passing of information against Meiyappan, the son-in-law of BCCI president N Srinivasan, stands proven, according to PTI.
The 170-page report said Meiyappan did fix and put bets on IPL matches.
The report rejects Srinivasan's contention that the former Chennai Super Kings team principal Meiyappan was merely a cricket enthusiast and has said that he was the face of Chennai Super Kings.
The report also said that allegations of betting and spot-fixing against Rajasthan Royals' Raj Kundra need to be further investigated.
The report has suggested that allegations of fixing requires further investigation and retired armed force personnel and police officers should be recruited by the BCCI to handle cases of corruption and match fixing.
