President Trump on Friday speculated about the source of payment for Michael Cohen's attorney Lanny Davis, who also represented former President Bill Clinton and has reportedly maintained ties with him and Hillary Clinton. Trump asked in a tweet: "Is he being paid by Crooked Hillary. Using her lawyer?" He is not the first to raise questions about or cast aspersions upon Lanny Davis. At Cohen's Wednesday testimony before the House Oversight Committee, Representative Jim Jordan, the ranking Republican, stated: "They've got to find somebody somewhere to say something to remove the president from office. They didn't find him. Lanny Davis found him." "So now Clinton loyalist, Clinton operative Lanny Davis has persuaded the chairman of the oversight committee to give a convicted felon a forum to tell stories and lie about the president of the United States," Jordan further noted. It was also pointed out that Davis is not currently being paid for representing Cohen, reports McClatchy. When Cohen was asked about that arrangement, he replied: "I guess he thinks it's important."
