Asaram was booked under Sections 376, 342, 506 and 509, 34 of the IPC, Section 8 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Sections 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The addition of immoral trafficking charge means that the self-styled godman Asaram may face rigorous life imprisonment, if the charges are proved in court that Asaram is guilty. The charge relates to entrapment of girl students and women studying and working in his ashrams into flesh trade.
