Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde told today that hours before the violence erupted on Saturday, he had phoned Mr Yadav and warned him that "the situation is tense." The minister also said that earlier alerts had been passed on as well, but said "I don't want to accuse the UP government of any failure."
