News X: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Independence Day Speech

In his last Independence Day speech before the crucial Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

Interestingly, Prime minister highlighted the importance and the need of the Food Security bill and also enlisted various Govt launched schemes from which the nation had benefitted under UPA's rule.

Prime Minister stressed on the schemes including MNREGA and RTI that have been adopted by the UPA during its tenure. The 30-minutes speech made by Manmohan Singh also reflected UPA's campaign strategy during the polls.
Under fire over econmic crisis, PM spoke on the inclusive and inspiring growth in the country and talked about the efforts to shape up a new India.

Prime Minister Singh also expressed the intent to reform the nations education system so that the country can match world class education standards.
In his 10th address to the nation, Prime minister Manmohan Singh also expressed extreme grief and anguish on Submarine tragedy in Mumbai that struck yesterday while lauding the army for their good work on Uttarakhand tragedy and termed that the nation is behind those grief stricken people.
