With the release of The Accidental Prime Minister trailer on Manmohan Singh's tenure as the Prime Minister (2004-2014), social media has been debating whether the film is politically motivated. Some Twitter accounts have said that even more films will be released leading up to the 2019 elections with a political agenda. BJP has even tweeted out the trailer and a wing of Congress has asked for the movie to be screen before release on January 11, 2019. the video till the end to see Anupam Kher talk about his process.
