Authorities detected a leak of radioactive material on board a Turkish Airlines cargo plane at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday though it was subsequently contained. The leak was found in a consignment of medical equipment stored in the Turkish Airlines flight, sparking panic and prompting authorities to cordon off the cargo area of the busy airport. Home minister Rajnath Singh, who was holding a news conference on a separate issue, told reporters the leak in the airport’s cargo complex has been “plugged”. Two cargo workers were rushed to hospital after they reported itching in their eyes, sources in the airport told reports.
