Speculation persists on reasons and developments behind the ordering of a Special Investigation Team probe into the Maharashtra's multi-crore irrigation scam. Reports suggest that the SIT probe order is the next step in the ongoing feud between the Congress and NCP, from CM Prithviraj Chavan raising the Irrigation mess to the white paper and Ajit Pawar's return and now an SIT probe. With this, the ghost of Irrigation scam is back to haunt NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who was given a clean chit earlier in the case and resumed the charge of Maha's Deputy CM soon after.
