Maharashtra irrigation scam: Charges against Ajit Pawar - NewsX

Land in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region was suffering from years of neglect, due to lack of proper irrigation facilities. Ajit Pawar was accused of allegedly approving multiple projects which were worth 20,000 crores, all in a short span of 8 months. Pawar allegedly gave the green signal to these projects without getting the mandatory clearance. This led to faulty canals being built in an already parched Vidarbha. And when monsoons were scarce, the farmers suffered because they didn't have any good infrastructure to turn to. Desperate and debt ridden, these farmers were driven to commit suicide.
