White paper on irrigation: Ajit Pawar gets clean chit - NewsX

The much-awaited white paper on Maharashtra's irrigation projects reportedly gives the clean to former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The paper is to be placed before the state cabinet this evening. Sharad Pawar has asked irrigation minister Sunil Tatkare to clear the white paper before winter session of Maharashtra Legislature that begins on December 10. Reports say the white paper has very skillfully increased the percentage of land brought under irrigation from 1 percent to nearly 20 percent. A series of exposes in this newspaper on corruption and malpractices in the irrigation department led to Pawar's resignation in September.
