Karnataka: Yeddyurappa set to launch new party today - NewsX
  • 5 years ago
Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa who quit the BJP at the end of November is formally joining the newly minted Karnataka Janata Party or the KJP today in Haveri, in north Karnataka. Today's event could only be billed as a show of strength for the Lingayat strongman who helped consolidate power for the BJP in the southern state. Yeddyurappa will hope that sufficient numbers will turn up in Haveri to give notice that the KJP could have a significant impact on next year's assembly elections. Yeddyurappa would certainly like to play kingmaker if he cannot be the king. The BJP leadership, both in New Delhi and Karnataka projects not to be bothered about Yeddyurappa's political plans outside the BJP. But the party leaders are certain to be keeping a close eye on Haveri this Sunday.
