Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has been charged in the Nitin Gadkari defamation case. The notice of defamation has been framed under Sections 499 (criminal defamation) and 500 (punishment for criminal defamation) of Indian Penal Code. If he is held guilty, he may have to serve 2 years in prison.

Earlier, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday refused to withdraw his statement in which he had levelled corruption allegations against Union minister Nitin Gadkari after a Delhi court suggested that they "bury the hatchet" and seek an amicable resolution on the criminal defamation complaint filed by the BJP leader.
