Fox News Sued for Defamation
Fox News is facing another defamation lawsuit, this time from Ray Epps, a self-proclaimed Donald Trump supporter. Epps claims that the network spread falsehoods about him, alleging that he was an undercover FBI agent responsible for inciting the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The lawsuit comes after Fox News' parent company settled a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million. Epps' complaint specifically targets former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who was fired following the Dominion settlement, as the primary promoter of the false conspiracy theory. Epps argues that Fox News' lies have had severe consequences, including criminal charges filed against him by the U.S. Department of Justice. Fox News seeks to transfer the lawsuit to U.S. District Court in Delaware.
