Rains wreak havoc in Rajasthan; 33 dead, CM calls in Army -- NewsX

Heavy rains continue to wreck havoc in Rajasthan with army being roped in for rescue and relief work. Facing drought like situation at one stage with a rainfall deficit of 29.69 per cent, the State is now experiencing flood like situation in seven districts. Torrential rains in the past few days alone has led to the State receiving 4.89 per cent more than the normal rainfall. As many as 33 people have died so far and thousands have been rendered homeless. The civil administration in Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Dholpur, Bharatpur and Dausa are struggling to provide relief with many low-lying areas in these districts as well as in Jaipur facing water-logging.
