Northeast exodus: Government bans bulk SMSes - NewsX

The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned bulk SMSes and MMSes for 15 days starting Friday. This follows rumours leading to the mass exodus of the North-East people from Bangalore and other cities. More than five SMSes or MMSes from one number cannot be sent in one go. The ban has been imposed throughout the country. This is not the first time that the Government has imposed such a ban. In 2010, the Centre had banned all bulk SMSes and MMSes across India for 72 hours in view of the impending verdict on Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits.
