Speak out India is a NewsX special show which focuses on the main news event of the day. Every day 14 children go missing in India. While the National Crime Records Bureau says 17,000 children are missing in India, a new RTI filed by the Bachpan Bachao Andolan reveals that the real number of missing children for just 2008-to-2010 was a staggering 1,17,000 more than ten times the current official figure. Families of the missing say the main reason for these huge numbers and inconsistencies is that the police are loathe to file FIRs on missing children often leaving them no option but to mourn the loss of their loved ones. So we ask today-Does the tale of India's stolen children expose ineffective Indian police system? India comments and shares its views only at this NewsX special show Speak out India.
