At a time when the focus should be on the deteriorating health of the national carrier, Air India and Airports Authority of India (AAI) have come up with a "high quality handling" protocol, one that ensures Maharaja Treatment for every MP boarding an AI flight from any airport in the country. Members of the two Houses of Parliament together number almost 800. The protocol stipulates that MPs be provided "step-wise facilitation" — starting from generation of PNR numbers to departure from airport, after take-off, on arrival at destination or at transiting airport.
