Bangaru Laxman appeals for leniency - NewsX

In about two and a half hrs from now, the quantum of punishment for former BJP president Bangaru Laxman will be known. Earlier, during the arguments over his sentencing, Bangaru Laxman's lawyer pleaded for a lesser sentence on the basis of his age and that he was diabetic and had undergone a bypass surgery. On his part, Bangaru Laxman also pleaded that this was the first he had ever done such a thing in his life. However, the court observed that though the episode was a journalistic endeavour, the court cannot ignore what was transpiring in the mind of convict.
