Despite pressure from all quarters, the Indian Olympic Association has refused to remove Suresh Kalmadi as its president. This means that the alleged mastermind in the Commonwealth Games scam continues to be the face of Indian sport. The International Olympic Committee and even the Indian Sports Ministry have been pushing for Kalmadi's removal, but the IOA seems disinterested in cleaning up the mess in its corridors. Acting president VK Malhotra defended Kalmadi by saying that he is not involved in the day-to-day running of the association, and that he is yet to be convicted of any of the charges.
