2G scam: Court to decide Chidambaram's fate today-NewsX

The suspense over P Chidambaram's alleged role in the 2G scam is likely to be over today. A Delhi court would decide on the plea by Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy to make the Home Minister an accused in the case. On Thursday, the Supreme Court had left the matter to be decided by the trial court, and refused to direct the CBI to investigate Chidambaram. In a sense the apex court had not directly indicted Chidambaram, unlike the way it did to Raja. Subramanian Swamy has relied on a Finance Ministry note dated july 6th, 2008 to pin Chidambaram. The note, signed by then Finance Secretary D Subbarao details the minutiae of a meeting between Chidambaram and former telecom Minister A Raja on July 4th 2008.
