Cyclone Thane has hit the coast of Tamil Nadu. The cyclone made landfall between Puducherry and Cudallore. Puducherry is witnessing heavy rainfall and strong winds. The Met officials have asked people to stay indoors even if they notice a lull in the wind speeds. The cyclone winds will begin their reverse path. Right now, the coastal regions of Chennai and Puducherry are braving wind speeds of 120 to 135 kms per hour. The strong winds have already damaged property and several trees and poles as well as thatched roofs have been uprooted.
