Kolkata fire: Mamata reaches hospital; 36 dead

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is facing the wrath of distressed relatives of the victims of the AMRI fire disaster. At least 36people are dead in a major fire that erupted in Kolkata's AMRI hospital early this morning. Fire department sources say that as many as 50 patients and staff members have been evacuated so far but several more are still trapped inside. The multi speciality hospital is located in a narrow lane and congestion is hampering rescue operations. Reportedly lack of safety apparatus for emergency situations within the hospital is being criticised. Over 25 fire tenders are struggling to put out the fire completely...though much of it has been brought under control..Rescue efforts are underway in full swing.
