West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata has offered special package for Maoists and asked them to return to mainstream politics. The offer is worth Rs 1.5 lakh in fixed deposit for those who surrender and Rs 2000 per month as allowance for 36 months, in addition to a job offer. An official notification has also been released to free 50 political prisoners before Aug 15. But two Maoist leaders Chandi Sarkar and Pradip Chatterjee will not be released as Union Home Ministry has objected to it.
