Break Off Antarctic Shelf The iceberg is apart of Antarctica's Brunt Ice Shelf. It is twice the size of
New York City. Researchers say the split could happen within a matter of days or weeks. It would be the largest iceberg to break off Brunt Ice Shelf since the area's monitoring started in 1915. NASA, via Twitter NASA satellites first spotted signs that the iceberg could break
in 2012. Its detachment is most likely due to rising temperatures in the
Antarctica region.
