Ratings for Hostless Oscars Improve From Last Year Early figures show that the
91st Academy Awards recorded a 21.6 rating. It is an improvement from 2018's 18.9 score. As more numbers trickle in, analysts expect the 2019 Oscars to have garnered an audience of 30 million. 26.5 million tuned in last year,
an all-time low for the ceremony. With no montages either, the show was
35 minutes shorter than in 2018. So far, critics have praised how the show was handled with no emcee as well as the time limit on
acceptance speeches and
musical performances.
