Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is Back in
the Supreme Court After
Battling Health Issues Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg walked
unassisted to the bench for the Supreme
Court’s public session on February 19. Her return comes just in time, as
the Supreme Court will be addressing
big cases such as partisan gerrymandering, religious liberty and the 2020 Census. 85-year-old Ginsburg underwent
surgery in December to remove
cancerous nodules from her left lung. Her subsequent recovery
caused her to miss
oral arguments in January. It was the first time she’d been absent in more than 25 years. Ginsburg has had previous battles with cancer: colon cancer in 1999 and pancreatic cancer in 2009. Dr. Valerie W. Rusch reaffirmed
Ginsburg’s recovery, stating no further
treatment was planned and that there
is no remaining evidence of the disease.
