California Governor to Pull Back National Guard Troops From Border

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will withdraw all National Guard troops deployed at the Mexican border. California Gov. Gavin Newsom,
via statement The announcement comes a week after New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham pulled her state's troops from the border. The National Guard will begin withdrawing troops immediately, but they will have until March 31 to remove all troops assigned to the California border. After California withdraws its
360 troops, 1,145 will remain
in Texas and 580 in Arizona. Newsom will reassign about
110 troops to help with preparation
for California's next wildfire season.
