An investigation revealed that the alarm had been triggered by the 90 candles on the cake of a woman celebrating her 90th birthday. The Ocean City Fire Department reported via Facebook: "Once crews confirmed that no hazard existed, they made sure to assist in making the birthday a memorable one!" It also shared an image of the firefighters posing for a picture with the birthday girl.
