According to Reuters, the government shutdown has led to the closure of museums and zoos.
But the shutdown of the US federal government is also leading to a build-up of liter and human waste at national parks.
The partial shutdown has extended into it's 12th day, with no end in sight, as President Donald Trump continues to demand funding for a wall along the southern border.
But the partial shutdown is also expanding, as the 17 Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo closed on Jan. 2nd.
In California, Joshua Tree National Park is also preparing to shutdown, because camp toilets cannot be emptied due to a lack of staffing.
