Republican senators did not get enough votes to approve a funding measure that includes $5 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall that President Donald Trump wants to build. Democrats are strongly opposing the measure. Trump said the government will have a shutdown because of the measure not passing. Soon after the midnight dealined pass the stop-gap budget measure, he posted on Twitter that he hopes the shutdown will not last long.
