Judge Postpones Sentencing of Former NSA Adviser Michael Flynn Prosecutors and defense lawyers had each recommended no prison time due to Flynn's cooperation with
Robert Mueller's special counsel. U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan still warned that Flynn might be incarcerated for lying to the FBI about Russia contacts. Sullivan added that he may consider sentencing Flynn to “a term of incarceration." The court has asked both prosecutors and Flynn's defense team to file a status report by March 13, 2019. Flynn, a former U.S. Army lieutenant general, faces a maximum punishment of five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
