Once, there was the dominance of Mumbai on the national cricket. But now, things seem to have changed as former India captain Sunil Gavaskar,have accused the national selectors of depriving players of Mumbai the privilege to represent India on the national stage.The iconic opener recently brought forth the example of Siddesh Lad who is yet to get a call-up for India ‘A’ despite performing consistently well in the domestic circuit. Lad has averaged over 43 with six tons in 44 first-class games for Mumbai and played a key role in helping the team win their latest and 41st title in Ranji Trophy in 2015-16.Gavaskar even compared 26-year-old Lad’s situation with Mumbai’s domestic giant Amol Muzumdar who despite scoring tons of runs in first-class cricket, could never make it to the Indian team.


टीम इंडिया के दिग्गज बल्लेबाज रहे सुनील गावस्कर अपने बेबाक अंदाज के लिए भी काफी मशहूर हैं। अक्सर अखबार में लेख के माध्यम से वो क्रिकेट जगत में सुधार और कमियों का जिक्र करते रहते हैं, वहीं गावस्कर के एक लेख ने इन दिनों क्रिकेट गलियारे में हलचल मचा दी है। दरअसल गावस्‍कर का मानना है कि राष्‍ट्रीय चयनकर्ता मुंबई के खिलाड़ियों के प्रति भेदभाव का रवैया अपनाते हैं। उनका कहना है कि मुंबई के खिलाड़ी लगातार अच्छा खेल रहे हैं लेकिन इसके बावजूद भी उन्हें टीम में मौका नहीं दिया जा रहा है।
