Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was born on September 25, 1916 in the sacred region of Brij in the village of Nagla Chandraban in Mathura District. His full name was Deendayal Upadhyaya, but he was called Deena by the family. His mother Shrimati Rampyari was a religious-minded lady and his father, Shri Bhagwati Prasad, was Assistant Station Master at Jalesar. His great-grandfather, Pandit Hariram Upadhyaya was a well known astrologer. He joined with Shri Nanaji Deshmukh and Shri Bhau Jugade for RSS activities. In December 1967, Upadhyaya was elected president of the Jana Sangh. He was found dead under mysterious circumstances on 11 February 1968 while travelling. His body was found near Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh

पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय जी का जन्म 25 सितम्बर सन् 1916 में चंद्रभान, फ़राह, जिला मथुरा, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. वह एक मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार से थे. उनके पिता का नाम श्री भगवती प्रसाद और माता का नाम रामप्यारी था.1937 में कानपुर में अपनी बी.ए की पढ़ायी के दौरान वे अपने सहपाठी श्री बालूजी महाशब्दे के कहने पर RSS के संपर्क में आये और पंडित जी ने स्वंय को पूर्ण रूप से देश के प्रति अर्पित कर दिया. 21 अक्टूबर 1951 में डॉ. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी के साथ मिलकर भारतीय जनसंघ (अब भारतीय जनता पार्टी ) की स्थापना की, 29 दिसम्बर 1967 को उन्हें पार्टी का अध्यक्ष चुन लिया गया, 11 फरवरी 1968 को इनका निधन हो गया पंडित जी की मौत आज भी रहस्य बनी हुई है
