Kapil Dev, Govinda, Ravi Kishan penalised in connection with fraud club

A Vadodara consumer court has penalised former cricketer Kapil Dev, actors Govinda and Ravi Kishan as a club run by an Ahmedabad couple which duped people to the tune of Rs 2000 crore showed the celebrities as its joint directors. The duping couple used to give luring offers for hotel booking to people to take their memberships. The couple looted huge money from consumers. After the consumers realised the whole scheme, 18 complainants went to Jagrut Nagrik centre from where the complaints were taken to Baroda consumer court. The Delhi police arrested the couple and Gujarat police brought them to Gujarat. The consumer court ordered the cheating couple to repay the money of victims with interest. Complainants’ lawyer said, “Complainants were told these 3 are joint directors. Court ordered the couple to compensate complainants with amount they received from each, with nine percent interest & Rs 20,000 cash, also ordered the 3 celebrities will compensate each complainant with Rs 15,000 each.”
