SIOUXSIE SIOUX – "ABOUT TO HAPPEN" (Unofficial video, 2008-2009)

This is the third and final single taken from Siouxsie’s critically acclaimed first solo album MANTARAY. The album was released on 10 September 2007 in the UK & Europe and on 18 September 2007 in the USA. It stayed for two weeks in total in the UK Top100 Albums chart peaking at #39 on 22 September 2007.

"About To Happen" is a fierce fusion of charmingly upbeat glam rock coupled with some punk rock sensibility. It was written by Siouxsie Sioux, Noko (Norman Fisher Jones), Charlie Jones and Steve Evans. The song’s lyrics are an apocalyptic foretelling of an unknown event of cataclysmic proportions, a sudden surge of energy reflecting themes of survival and rebirth, superbly delivered with gusto and determination by Siouxsie’s inimitable voice.

SIOUXSIE: "[…] I don’t think that the lyrics on MANTARAY can be taken literally. ‘About To Happen’ is the closest (to this) because it has a sense of immanence and exacerbated passion that is uncontrollable."

Single released (UK): 10 March 2008.
It entered the UK Top200 Singles chart on 22 March 2008 at #154, which happened to be its highest chart position, staying in total for one week only, before exiting for good on the following week.

[Note: Due to lack of funding by W14, no promo video was filmed to accompany the single’s release. This is just a fan-made video by Peter Routley, audiovisually re-edited by me. It features footage from two main sources, one being FINALE DVD (released on 18 May 2009, UK) while the other is a live rendition of the song on Season 14, Episode 10 of "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" TV show (aired on 21 March 2008, BBC1 UK)].
