Citizenship Bill 2016: Bandh turns violent in Assam

Protestors took to streets to raise slogans against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Assam's Guwahati. Various organisations and their supporters participated in the protest against the bill. The bandh which was called out earlier this morning turned violent after supporters burnt tyres and vandalised vehicles. Shops were closed and hardly any vehicles could be seen on roads in view of the bandh. Protestors demanded that the government should not pass the bill.
