Amritsar train tragedy: Death toll mounts to 60

At least 60 people have been reported dead while 51 people have sustained injuries in the Amritsar train mishap. The incident took place after a train ran over a crowd watching Dussehra celebrations near a train track in Choura Bazar. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh ordered an inquiry into the incident. He also said he was leaving immediately to the site of the incident to personally supervise rescue and relief operations. PM Modi has approved ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for families of deceased. He also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 for the injured.
