Spar over Tipu Jayanti in Karnataka; HDK to go ahead with celebrations

Year after year controversy hovers around Tipu Sultan's Jayantii. This year too both Congress and BJP have begun sparring with each other. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that Tipu Sultan Jayanti will be celebrated with great pomp and show in the state. BJP opposes and says why should we glorify Tipu Sultan. BJP told CM HD Kumaraswmy that they should avoid celebrating the jayanti.. The Tipu Jayanti issue was exacerbated in 2017 because of then-upcoming assembly elections in the state. Both sides hardened their stands on the issue back then and the same seems to be happening again, now in the run up to the 2019 elections.
