Tipu Jayanti Row: CM HDK had given permission for indoor celebrations
  • 5 years ago
The Congress-JDS coalition government in Karnataka has decided to carry on with the practice of celebrating the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan, the 18th century ruler of Mysore, on November 10 despite strident opposition from the BJP and its affiliates in the past. However, this time it seems as though Tipu Jayanti has become another source of conflict between the Congress and JDS. The congress has planned grand celebrations in the Vidhan Soudha. However, sources tell NewsX that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy hasn't been invited. Remember, HDK was a strong critic of the celebrations earlier, but gave the go ahead for celebrations this year.
