Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat polls: Voting for 2nd phase is underway in 13 districts of the state

1,095 candidates will participate in the second phase of Panchayat polls in 13 districts in Jammu and Kashmir today. The four-phase elections began on October 8 and will end on October 16. Official says that security arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the second phase elections despite threat from extremists. Two main regional parties — the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have boycotted elections in the state.
