SCDOT Removes Flood Barrier from Conway Highway

Waccamaw River floodwaters in Conway, South Carolina, dropped below 17.5 feet on Wednesday, October 3, as the state’s Department of Transportation worked to deconstruct a barrier built along US 501 before record flooding last week.Swollen by Hurricane Florence, the river crested at 21 feet a week ago, topping the 17.9 feet record set by Hurricane Matthew’s floodwaters in 2016.
