A man who took a very large dose of an erectile dysfunction drug ended up with what appears to be a permanent red-tinted vision, notes Gizmodo. According to a recent report in Retinal Cases, the vision problem developed not long after he chugged an unknown but admittedly large quantity of liquid sildenafil citrate.  After two days of experiencing trouble with both eyes, he went to an urgent care clinic at Mount Sinai in New York. He was eventually diagnosed with persistent retinal toxicity, a condition that continued for over a year, notes the Miami Herald. Notably, sildenafil citrate, an active ingredient in Viagra, has been found to occasionally cause temporary vision problems.  A spokesperson for Pfizer, the company which makes Viagra, told Motherboard, "According to the hospital statement, the individual actually purchased liquid sildenafil online, with no indication whether a prescription was provided…It's important to note that no regulatory body has approved liquid sildenafil citrate to treat erectile dysfunction."
