Apple Pays off $15.4 Billion Irish Tax Bill The EU finally dropped its litigation against Apple after paying back 13.2 billion Euros
in taxes. With the lawsuit withdrawn, the funds are now in an escrow holding account. Ireland’s finance minister Paschal Donohoe confirmed that the government received the full amount of the taxes. Paschal Donohoe, via announcement Apple’s tax break was considered to be illegal and a "significant advantage" in 2016. It was considered to be a “significant advantage” over its competition. The tech giant was later ordered to pay back the taxes it owed from 2003 and 2014 with interest.
