Typhoon Mangkhut hammers Kowloon

Visibility was drastically reduced as powerful Typhoon Mangkut hit Hong Kong. The normally iconic view of the Hong Kong island skyline from the Kowloon side was practically erased by the severe wind and rains. A few brave souls dared to try to get an up-close view of the waters, despite the Hong Kong Observatory's advisory to stay indoors. The windows of an office building in Hung Hom were blown out by heavy winds and papers could be seen being blown around in the sky. And waves came crashing over barriers at the Hung Hom ferry pier.
