Hawaii Nearly Dodges Hurricane Lane

Better news for Hawaii residents and visitors.
According to Reuters, Hawaii dodged a direct hit by Hurricane Lane—the huge hurricane predicted to hit the region this weekend.
The National Weather Service explains, "The storm was nearly stationary south of Hawaii on Friday night. It was expected to move slowly toward the northwest later and then turn west on Saturday."
But Lane didn't go away quietly. Although it weakened into a tropical storm, it still left severe flooding on the Big Island.
