Streams Flood in Hilo as Officials Warn of 'Excessive' Rainfall

Heavy rainfall north of Hilo, located on the Big Island in Hawaii, caused streams to flood their banks.Even as officials downgraded a hurricane warning to a tropical storm warning on the Big Island, they said excessive rainfall was expected on August 24, and warned of flash floods, high winds, and storm surges.Maui County and Oahu were still under hurricane warning as the Category 2 storm slowed to a crawl about 170 miles south of Honolulu.This footage taken by Krystal Ho’onani shows water rushing over the banks of a stream on the coast north of Hilo.
