Massive boulder falls on busy motorway during landslide in northern India

This is the scary moment a monster boulder comes loose from a mountain and hurls across a busy motorway during a landslide in northern India.

Fortunately, the boulder crashed into the river below without hurting anyone.

The stunning incident occurred at Bageshwar district in Uttarkhand, India, on August 17.

Traffic on a busy road in Kapkot came to a halt as the land began to slide. Drivers and local villagers kept a safe distance from a stretch where dirt and rocks had begun to tumble from the mountain above.

But nothing had prepared them to face what followed next.

A massive boulder came rolling down the mountain, hurled across the road and fell into the river Sarju below.

A video shot by an onlooker captures the horrified shrieks of onlookers.

A local resident Rambriksh Negi, 45, said: “It has been raining for the last two months in the district and soil and rocks have come loose at many places. The caution of the local residents saved them from the boulder.”
