The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said on August 15 that one of its officers fired beanbag rounds to help free a bear trapped in a car in South Lake Tahoe.Footage of the incident shows deputies responding to reports of a bear trapped in the back of a silver car parked in a driveway.“He’s done a little bit of damage in there,” an officer can be heard saying to a woman. “We’re going to try to get him out because he’s not happy at all.”The officer then fires the rounds, which consist of small fabric pillows filled with lead pellets, into the back window of the car. The bear can be seen scampering out through the window after it shatters.The sheriff’s office released the footage with a warning to drivers not to leave food in cars or vehicles unlocked.
