Comey Says All Americans Should Ask Themselves Why Trump Doesn't Criticize Putin

James Comey on Monday urged Americans to ask themselves why President Trump hasn't criticized President Putin.

In the wake of President Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on July 16, former FBI director James Comey urged Americans to conduct a "thought experiment."
"Make a list of all the public figures in this country and around the world the current president has criticized," Comey tweeted on Monday. "Ask yourself: 'Why is Putin missing from the list?'"
"No responsible American should ever stop asking, 'Why?'" Comey, who has been a vocal critic of the president, added.
Trump has faced criticism for not denouncing Russia's election meddling at the press conference after his meeting with Putin last week.
He cast doubt on the US intelligence community's findings that Russia made significant efforts to interfere in the 2016 election and appeared to accept the Russian leader's claim to the contrary. "I have president Putin, he just said it's not Russia," the US president commented. "I will say this. I don't see any reason why it would be."
And since the summit, he has taken to Twitter to push back against the negative media coverage.
"Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. It's called Trump Derangement Syndrome!" Trump tweeted on Wednesday.
